What I wish I knew before building a pool | Before and after

Backyards with pools are extremely popular in Florida due to our amazing warm weather and a desire for outdoor recreational spaces.

Many of us see pools as essential for staying cool and enjoying the sunny weather all year round…. and because of that, they are considered valuable additions to residential properties.

I wish I had known before building a pool, that having a pool can significantly enhance the overall appeal of a property, making it more attractive to potential buyers, especially buyers coming from out-of-state

A well-maintained pool can contribute to a higher resale value and a fast sale. But if you don’t have one I want to share my personal experience and Get ready for a jaw-dropping transformation!

We’re about to unveil the incredible before-and-after footage of a backyard makeover that will leave you speechless. From an ok plain, sad, and boring outdoor space to a stunning oasis, this makeover has it all. You won’t believe how they’ve turned a simple backyard into a luxurious retreat. Stay tuned for the big reveal, and witness the magic of a total transformation right before your eyes.

Why Add a Pool?

I want to be completely honest with you, I was very skeptical about adding a pool only for one reason when we bought our house, we were able to get it cheaper for that particular reason, The house had no pool and I was fine with that.

a long time ago when my kids were younger we had a house with a pool, a pool that was never used because we always wanted to make friends and have fun at the club. So I saw no value for us as a family I guess, but when we moved to the new home with No pool I was super ok with not having one BUT BUT BUT … Now, we are all in different stages, and we are looking for relaxation, family time, and socializing in different ways if you know what I mean 🙂

Anyways, Imagine stepping into a backyard paradise, A well-designed pool isn’t just a water feature; it’s a statement of fun and lifestyle. But it’s not just about looks; it’s an investment that adds significant value to your property.

Homes with well-maintained pools tend to sell at higher prices compared to those without. The exact percentage increase can vary, but a pool can contribute to a 7-10% bump in the overall home value.

Properties with pools often spend less time on the market.

Before and After transformation

The appeal of a refreshing pool in Florida’s weather can attract buyers, leading to quicker sales compared to homes without one

I can stress enough about the importance of checking local regulations and obtaining necessary permits before starting the pool construction. Also very important, each association is different AND YOU need to call and check with your HOA before you even start planning your pool.

Remember that even if you are using the best pool company out there, an educated consumer is key to any type of transaction.

For instance, one of the biggest problems you can encounter is the setback, between your fence or water line and the starting point of your pool, just little things that will save you headheaks along the way.

The process is a lot of fun, choosing your style, design, and materials is the best part of all, depending on what company you use, you will soon realize that you will become an expert in pool trends, equipment, and landscaping

Personally, The hardest part is the construction process, including excavation, plumbing, and installation. this is the less enjoyable part of the process, dirt, dust, and equipment can be very stressful especially when you need to wait for the material to set, dry, and be ready for the next step, not to mention waiting for each step to be approved by the inspectors and the city

The pros of having a pool are many but for the most part, the increase in property value will be my #1, health benefits, and a great place for social gatherings are my favorites

as far as the cons, maintenance costs which will be an extra 100 dollars a month, safety concerns if you have kids or pets, and potential impact on utility bills it all depends on the size, equipment, etc.

This addition to the property not only added a lot of competitive advantages and resale appeal but also transformed this outdoor space into a stunning living space.

Break down the costs involved in building a pool is a difficult task, it all depends on the size, material, type of equipment, and gadgets you will want to use including construction and permits, but it is safe to say that you can start thinking about 50,000 dollars for a small pool like this one.

Again, having a pool may work for you and your lifestyle but my advice to you is…, when buying a property you need to weigh your options, would you rather buy at a better price now and take care of the pool later? most of the communities have some sort of community pool, you may not even see the need for a pool in your backyard, or are you one of those who don’t want to deal with this? I got you.

I have a great team of professionals who can guide you in the right direction if you need more information about pools, permits, and the whole backyard situation 🙂
